The SERVOX Digital is a laryngectomy speech amplifier for people who have had a laryngectomy, people who have lost their voices due to injury or illness, or people who have temporary speech loss after a tracheotomy or are attached to a respiration device. When placed against the user's throat, the device generates ultrasonic vibrations and transmits them over a membrane into the pharynx, mouth and nose area. A clear and intelligible voice emerges through the natural speech movements. The Inton's dual buttons allow more flexibility in pitch, volume and intonation. In addition to the basic manual settings, the SERVOX Digital has a serial interface for connection to a PC. Connection to a PC requires a USB interface kit (not included), which includes a USB cable and special software that allows for a wide range of individualized settings to be configured and stored for use in specific situations. The software also offers additional options for adjusting the SERVOX Digital's tone to match the natural speech melody. The SERVOX Digital features stainless steel construction, soft-touch buttons, and a low battery indicator light. Its energy management system protects the battery from being discharged completely and lengthens speech duration by reducing energy consumption. Two screw caps are provided, one with harder and one with softer sound characteristics. A neck strap/carrying cord; oral connector with short and long connector tubes; holster-style storage bag; and instructions are also included. POWER: Rechargeable nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery (included). A processor-controlled charger is included that can charger the speech aid and a separate battery simultaneously; 110- and 220-volt versions of the charger are available. DIMENSIONS: 118 millimeters (mm) long x 35 mm in diameter (speech aid). The charger is (LxWxH) 146 x 85 x 45 mm. WEIGHT: 110 grams (speech aid without battery); 380 grams (charger without battery); 60 grams (battery). WARRANTY: 2-year warranty on speech aid and charger.
