The Kidde Wireless Smoke Alarm System with SmokeSounder is a smoke alarm designed for use by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The system includes one or more wireless smoke detectors with standard 85-decibel alarm signals, plus SmokeSounder, which provides a voice alarm and a low-frequency beeping alarm signal. SmokeSounder does not detect smoke by itself, and must be used with a Kidde wireless smoke alarm / detector. It links with the Kidde wireless smoke alarm so that when the smoke alarm sounds, SmokeSounder is triggered. The wireless smoke alarms use radio frequency to both transmit and receive messages about a hazard in the home; when one alarm sounds, all sound. SmokeSounder has a loud talking voice that announces "Danger! Fire! Wake up! Follow the Escape Plan!" The voice alarm is accompanied by a distinctive pitch designed to wake children and older adults with high frequency hearing loss. Nuisance alarms and low battery signals can be temporarily silenced by a button up to 12 hours. A red LED flashes during an alarm response, to indicate low battery, or to indicate a unit error. A dipswitch pattern inhibits interference from similar systems nearby. The alarm may be plugged into an outlet, placed on a nightstand or shelf, or hung on a wall. POWER: Smoke alarm uses household current or three double-A batteries (included). SmokeSounder uses household current with 9-volt battery backup (transformer and battery included). Low battery warning states "Low Battery" and chirps once a minute with a red LED flashing. A green LED lights to indicate both alternating current (AC) and battery power, and flashes to indicate battery-only power mode.
WARRANTY: Five-year warranty on SmokeSounder and 10-year warranty on battery-powered or AC-powered alarms.
