RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The NaturalPoint trackIR is a mouse emulator designed for use by individuals with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities. In passive mode, this cursor control system uses four infrared LEDs located behind the unit's opaque front lens to illuminate the reflective material on a body-worn pointing device (available choices include a dot and a ring). A camera in the unit picks up the reflection and transmits it to a data chip for processing. Information about the size, shape, and location of the reflection is transmitted back to the computer via the computer's USB port where trackIR software translates the information into cursor movement. In active mode, the LEDs are turned off and a device that emits infrared light such as the optional wand acts as the tracked object. Other features include game capability that, when activated optimizes the system for computer game playing; dwell clicking for hands-free computer operation; a gravity feature which enables the user to click on hard-to-hit icons and check boxes by briefly locking on the center of the object; a key activated feature which eliminates unintended cursor movement by freezing the cursor until the "center" key is pressed; and multiple custom user profile capability which automatically set the system to user preferences when his/her profile is loaded. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows 2000/Millenium, Pentium 166 processor or better, five megabytes (MB) of hard drive space, 16 MB RAM, and an USB connection.
