--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 4/1997) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Chesapeake Book Worm is a cassette recorder designed to play and record two and four track for individuals who are blind or have low vision. The Chesapeake Book Worm I is the basic model and plays and records at both full speed (1-7/8 ips) and slower National Library Service Speed (15/16 ips). It features one touch record, a track selector switch, a speed selector switch, volume control, jacks for external mic and headphones, pause, stop/eject, fast forward, auto stop, rewind, play, record, condenser mic, and carrying handle. All of the other models have these features plus more. Model II is desk top unit with a piano-type keyboard that is marked tactually. Model III is the same as model II but offers an AM/FM Radio. Model IV and V are walkman type recorders. Model V also features an AM/FM recorder and comes with stereo headphones, nicad batteries, battery charger and belt clip. Model VI is a stereo cassette recorder with a visual clock and AM/FM radio. It allows for a two alarm setting, and you may wake to tape, radio or alarm (visual setting only). All models come with cassette instructions. They will record on blank or erased tapes only. POWER: Operates on AC with power cord (included) or on DC with four "C" batteries (not included). Models IV and V use two "AA" batteries. Model VI uses one nine-volt battery for the clock. DIMENSIONS: Model I: 10-1/2 x 5-1/2 x 2-1/8 inches. Model II and III: 9-3/8 x 6-1/8 x 2-5/8 inches. Model IV: 3-3/4 x 5 x 3-1/8 inches. Model V: 5 x 3-1/2 x 3-1/8 inches. Model VI: 14 x 5 x 5 inches. WEIGHT: Models I, II and III weigh two pounds. Model IV weighs nine ounces. WARRANTY: One year.
