Seedlings Braille Books for Children are braille books designed for use by children who are blind or have low vision. A total of over 450 titles are available for children in various age ranges from one to fourteen. Formats include picture books with braille, grade one braille books, grade two braille books with same-page print, and grade two braille-only books. Picture books, generally for pre-schoolers, are standard picture books to which the publishers have added grade one braille on clear plastic. Print and braille books are designed as learning tools for beginning readers (approximate ages four to eight). They do not have pictures. They are double-spaced easy-readers with the print words typed just above each braille line so that blind and sighted readers can enjoy these books together. Braille-only books are intended for more independent readers, approximate ages seven to fourteen. These braille books include over 300 fiction titles, as well as poetry and biographies. Books are bound with board covers or with plastic comb binding and plastic covers.
