The Hoveround MPV5 is a powered wheelchair designed for use by individuals with lower extremity and mobility disabilities and spinal cord injury. Designed to have a very narrow turning radius and to be highly maneuverable in indoor and outdoor environments, this powered wheelchair has a unique Round for a Reason design with a round base and rear wheel steering that allows navigation around tight corners and through narrow spaces without damaging walls or furniture. FRAME: The circular base is 24 inches wide x 38 inches long. It has a turning radius of 22.7 inches, and a ground clearance of 2.5 inches. A bumper surrounds the base to protect furniture and walls should the unit come into contact with them. CONTROLS: The control panel is located on the armrest and features a joystick that controls speed, steering, and braking. A battery charge meter is standard. SEAT: The height of the custom contoured swivel-style cushioned, folding seat adjusts from 20 to 23 inches. Custom seating and an elevating seat are optional. ARMRESTS: Padded, flip-up angle-adjustable armrests with cup holder and side tote bag. FOOTREST: Adjustable flip-up footplate with semicircular frame. BRAKES: Regenerative braking with automatic parking brake. WHEELS: Solid rubber, non-marring tires, 3.5 inches wide with 9-inch diameter. CASTERS: Two rear, steerable casters with solid rubber, non-marring tires, 2 inches wide with 8-inch diameter. POWER: Uses two 12-volt sealed, rechargeable batteries. An automatic charger is included. SPEEDS: Maximum speed is 5 miles per hour. The maximum range is 15 to 20 miles. OPTIONS: Power trunk lift; threshold wheelchair ramps; 6-inch power seat lift; basket; cane/crutch holder, walker holder; and oxygen tank holder. CAPACITY: 300 pounds. WEIGHT: 195 pounds with battery. The base unit weighs 91 pounds; the base with batteries weighs 143 pounds.
