The ThermoWorks Digital Talking Thermometer, model RT8400, is a voice output household and kitchen thermometer designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This digital thermometer can be used in the kitchen to measure food temperature or to measure temperatures inside or outside the home. It shows the temperature in big LCD digits and speaks it when a button is pressed. Its reduced-tip probe measures the temperature within 6 seconds. Temperature can be read using either the Celsius or Fahrenheit scale. The units's range is minus 58 to 572 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 50 to 300 degrees Celsius), with accuracy of plus or minus 1.8 degree Fahrenheit (1 degree Celsius) from minus 3.8 to 247.8 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 19.9 to 119.9 degrees Celsius), and no more than 2 or 3 degrees Celsius for higher or lower temperatures within the range. The resolution is 0.1 degrees over the full range. A hanging clip is included. POWER: Uses two 1.5 volt, type AAA or equivalent batteries (included). The unit powers off automatically After being idle for 10 Minutes. DIMENSIONS (HxDxW): 4.4 x 1.2 x 2 inches (not including probe). Probe is 0.12 x 4.9 inches; tip reduces to 0.08 inch diameter. Display (HxW) is 0.5 x 1 inch.
