(Verified 03/2007) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- BoardSpeaker GoSpeech, model T1100, is a direct selection communicator designed for use by non-speaking individuals with functional motor skill, including individuals with cerebral palsy or communication, speech, learning, or neurological disabilities. This picture/symbol based communication device has a text-to-speech system with an unlimited vocabulary. To provide human-sounding speech, it utilizes single-voice concatenative speech based on pre-stored human speech acoustic elements. The device has a built-in touch screen and holds up to 40 picture cards. The picture cards can be changed without touching them. This is a stand-alone device that operates without a personal computer (PC); a PC with a USB port and a connected printer are required to print custom picture/symbol cards on cardstock. The device can survive a three foot drop onto the floor, and has an auto shut-off feature. POWER: Uses rechargeable batteries.
