Picture of TOBII C8 The Tobii C8 is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with cognitive, communication, or speech disabilities. This tablet-computer-based communicator uses Windows Vista Home Premium and features touch screen access, an IntelCore Duo U2500 processor, 2 gigabytes (GB) RAM, a 60 GB hard drive, two USB 2.0 ports, and an integrated desk stand. Other features include 2 integrated speakers, 2 integrated microphones, a 1 GB SD card and a built-in camera with 640 x 480 pixels. Users can communicate via text or symbols to generate synthesized or digitized speech for face-to-face interaction or through email, text messages or chat. The device offers word processing, and MP3 video capability, and supports other Windows-based software. The Tobii C8 includes Tobii Communicator (see separate entry) Standard edition package, which allows for communication via text or with over 15,000 SymbolStix icons. Multiple user profiles can be set up on a single device to use in the classroom and for those wanting separate user settings depending on the time of day. OPTIONS: WLAN Internet access, Bluetooth to connect to other devices, GSM cell phone access and mounting systems for use on wheelchairs. Other accessories include a monitor arm, carrying case, shoulder trap, stylus pen, headset, external speakers, USB memory stick, USB CD/DVD player and TP cable. POWER: Uses a rechargeable battery with 6-hour capacity. High capacity batteries and a battery charger are optional. DIMENSIONS (WxHxD): 9.4 x 7.9 x 1.5 inches. The display is 8.4 inches. WEIGHT: 4 pounds. WARRANTY: Two-year manufacturer's warranty.
