This portable communication device offers computer access and features a full magnesium alloy case and a shock-mounted hard drive, enabling use in a variety of environments. The system also includes a custom-built carrying case to enable use without removing the communicator from the case. Standard hardware includes an Intel Celeron 300-MegaHertz processor, internal 56 K modem, active matrix LCD display with touch screen, a 4.3 gigabyte (GB) hard drive, 64 megabytes (MB) RAM, a Micro CommPac speech output device, external USB keyboard and mouse, external microphone, and an external PCMCIA floppy drive. Also included with the system are Talking Screen (also available separately; see entry), Microsoft Windows 98, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Panda anti-virus software, and Mayer Johnson Symbol Books I, II, and III (software and spiral bound reference books). The system is available with a choice of DECtalk or ETI-Eloquence voice output software. Lifetime free technical support during business hours and 24-hour emergency support and free software upgrades are also included. A free upgrade to EZ Keys (see entry) is offered when the user's needs and literacy skills advance beyond Talking Screen. POWER: Uses a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery (included) or an alternating current (AC) adapter (included). An adapter for the Micro CommPac is also included. An additionall battery charger, 12- or 24- volt computer adapters, and extra batteries are available. OPTIONS: External PCMCIA CD-ROM drive, additional RAM, table mount, Simplicity wheelchair mount, QuickPage (see also separate entry), and more.
