BoardSpeaker DECtalk, Model T1200, is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with communication or speech disabilities and functional motor skill. This device is targeted at individuals who have outgrown a recorded voice communicator but do not need the power and sophistication of a dynamic display system. This picture/symbol based communication device features DECtalk text-to-speech system with nine voices. BoardSpeaker uniquely allows the user to embed speech onto paper cards through the use of two-dimensional barcodes. The device has a built-in touch screen and holds up to 40 picture cards at one time. Users can change the picture cards independently without assistance. Features include an external mode to work with three-dimensional objects and flash cards and unlimited vocabulary text-to-speech. This stand-alone device operates without a personal computer (PC). However, to design and print talking cards, a personal computer or a Macintosh computer with internet access and an Epson PictureMate printer are required. POWER: Uses internal rechargeable batteries. OPTIONS: BoardSpeaker 4 x 6 inch cardstock for picture card printing.
