(Verified 2/1998) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Word Making Cards, model FPE-6010, are language development aids designed to teach phonics, speech, reading and foreign language skills to children with cognitive disabilities. With 600 cards, the set is divided into 29 divider cards consisting of 25 consonant sounds and four blends--/s/, /l/, /r/, and /k/. The cards are designed to work on memory skills and to establish categories such as people, animals and words that sound alike. In addition, full color pictures of common objects are designed to represent each sound in each of the three word positions--initial, medial and final. The cards can also be used to construct simple stories or to teach individual speech sounds or groups of sounds.
