(Verified 05/2006) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The CAST eReader is a voice output web browser and screen reading program designed for use by individuals with visual, reading, and learning disabilities. The eReader adds spoken voice, visual highlighting, document navigation, or page navigation to any electronic text, including the World Wide Web and the Internet, word processors, scanned text, or typed text. Standard features include selection of volume, speed, and pitch of the reading voice; selection of speech and highlighting speeds and increments; selection of default font, style, color, and size of text; control of movement through text (automatic and manual stepping); spell check; graphics on text pages; and notetaking and speech feedback while typing. eReader supports can be applied directly to Web pages while using the Internet. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible or Macintosh computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The IBM and compatible version requires a Pentium 166 or higher processor (133 if not reading Web pages or HTML files), 32 megabytes (MB) RAM (16 MB if not reading Web pages or HTML files), 125 MB of free disk space (20 MB if not using Web reading capability), Windows 95 or 98 or NT, Windows sound card, 12-inch or larger monitor with 800 x 600 resolution (640 x 480 not recommended), and Internet Explorer 4.x or 5.x for reading Web pages. The Macintosh version requires a 68030 or better processor or Power PC with 12 MB RAM, 2 MB of hard disk space (8 MB if Plaintalk is not installed, a 12-inch or larger monitor with a minimum of 256-color capability, and system 7.5 or higher.

Notes: This software is also available in five-user lab packs ($799), 10-user lab packs ($1399), and single-building site licenses ($1999). Licenses for 11 or more computers in two or more school buildings are $100 per computer.
