(Verified 9/1999) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Action Music Play was designed and research tested to help pre- schoolers with severe visual impairments overcome early play and language dificits. the activities on Action/Music are based on normal developmental model and are appropriate for any child with a developmental age 14 months to five years. Toddlers and preschoolers use synthesizewd speech output (Echo) on the computer to talk abouth their ongoing ACTION play with balls, bikes and wagons, and MUSIC play singing with a guitat, a tape recorder,m and sound making toys. High contrast montior and keyboard graphics and (optional) Braille labelling on the keyboard overlays introduce severely visually impaired children to computer use. The Action/Music Play disk comes with programs for beginning, intermediate and advanced levels for the Action and Music contexts, as well as overlays for the Muppet Learning Keys keyboard, and two Helpcards containing the research bases for the software activities, a description of how the disk helps children with visual impairmments, and 12 suggested activites for each learning context. For Apple II Series computers, requires 128 K.
