(Verified 08/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Cloze-Plus Program is a reading tutorial program designed to develop vocabulary and comprehension skills through structured cloze and contextual analysis strategies. (Cloze sentences are context sentences with one key word missing.) The lessons are composed for reading levels 1 through 8, for use with elementary, secondary/college, vocational/technical, adult basic education, special education, and ESL students. Three types of tasks for comprehension and vocabulary input are included. Meaning Completion Cloze presents a paragraph with a missing word and asks users to select the correct choice from foils. Vocabulary in Context asks a content question based on a paragraph in which the target word meaning can be inferred from context. Syntax Completion Cloze presents a sentence with a missing word and asks the user to type in the correct word. The user can request clues on any of the tasks by pressing the space bar. PROGRAM COMPONENTS: Each set contains 20 lessons on diskettes and a Teacher's Guide. Each set is $160. RECORDS: After each lesson, a percentage of accuracy report, number of clues requested, and a cumulative contextual skills report (tried and correct) is provided. Records are maintained for up to 50 students. COMPATIBILITY: For use on Apple II computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: 64K memory, MS-DOS, and a CGA monitor.
Notes: Special CLOZE-PLUS ensembles are available. CPA (Computerized Placement Appraisal) plus any 6 sets of lessons in a file box with a Teacher's Guides is $995, and the CPA with back-ups of CLOZE-PLUS is $1200.
