--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 2/2013) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Bailey's Book House is an academic tutorial program designed to enhance language and reading skills for individuals who have developmental disabilities. There are five activities which allow students to learn letters and their sounds, acquire new vocabulary, and compose stories as they make rhymes, direct plots and publish their own storybooks and greeting cards. All letters, words and sentences are presented in meaningful context. Students learn that letters make up words, words make up sentences and that words are read from left to right. Each activity reinforces the concept that print carries meaning, and the Teacher's Guide provides further reinforcement with how-to instructions, lesson ideas and reproducible activity sheets. Every word on the screen is spoken aloud and supported with lively, imaginative graphics and animation. Bailey's Book House has built in scanning for single switch users. The CD-ROM version for Macintosh/Windows has two additonal activities that focus on teaching students common adjectives and read, sound out and spell three-letter words.
