The VTouch is a braille telecommunication device for the deaf designed for use by individuals who are deaf blind and blind. This device enables the user to communicate with a Relay Operator, another TTY, or braille TTY. Face-to-face communication is enabled with the addition of a second keyboard The conversation is shown on the Braille display from the VTouch Braille Terminal. This device has a large conversation memory, holding up to 32,768 characters with four programmable buffers. It is suitable for greeting messages, memos, or saving time on a long distance call. The unit connects to the telephone line or acoustically couples to the telephone handset. When connected to the phone line, this device automatically answers calls and displays the incoming call on the braille display. Calls are recorded in internal memory. A synthetic speech voice notifies hearing callers of the device and is automatically reset with incoming TTY tone signals. The device is equipped with a 20-character blue vacuum fluorescent display and offers two keyboard modes: A TTY keyboard with 47 keys and 14 function keys and a Perkins-style seven-key Braille keyboard with soft-switch. A built-in automatic answering machine records unlimited messages up to 30,000 characters total and offers remote message retrieval with password protection. Other features include a wireless tactile pager for incoming call notification, two tactile signalers for outgoing call progress, and nine-number speed dial. A soft pack carrying case is included. POWER: Uses a heavy-duty rechargeable, replaceable battery pack for six hours of continuous use. A 12-volt direct current (DC) adapter is included. The unit is equipped with a low battery indicator. DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 10 x 10 x 2.5 inches. WEIGHT: 3 pounds with batteries. WARRANTY: one- year limited warranty against defects in manufacturing and workmanship.
