Picture of GREENSPEED HAND TRIKE (MODEL GTH) The Greenspeed GTH Hand Trike is a hand propelled adult tricycle designed for use by individuals with lower extremity or mobility disabilities or spinal cord injury. This hand- cranked recumbent tricycle is both propelled and steered by the crank handles, which are joined to the two front wheels by a steering column and linkages. The turning radius is 10 feet 10 inches. The drive is taken under the seat to the rear wheel, so in hill climbing the weight on the rear wheel increases as the slope of the hill increases. To provide a wide range of gearing, the cycle has three gearing systems. At the cranks there is a Swiss Schlumpf Mountain-Drive, which is a two-speed bottom bracket, giving a 1:1 top gear, and 1:0.4 bottom gear. There is also a three-speed rear hub and a nine- speed cassette, allowing 54 gear combinations, and a standard gear range of 9 to 126 gear inches. The gear range can also be adjusted up or down by changing the single chain ring on the Mountain-Drive. The frame of the cycle is made of aircraft grade Chromoly 4130, and the wheels have alloy rims with stainless steel spokes. Alloy drum brakes are standard. The seat is made from a woven outdoor furniture material, and laced with elastic shock cord, so that it will conform to the user's body shape, and provide insulation from road shock. Standard equipment includes a luggage rack, rear fender, rear view mirror, and safety flag. OPTIONS: Hydraulic disk brakes; front fenders; extra mirror. DIMENSIONS: Standard wheel is 20 inches; 16 inch wheels are optional.
