Termite Torpedo is an educational game program and visual training activity designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. In this arcade-style game, termites are eating their way through Woodville, and the player must clear the playing field of termites. Once the termites have been cleared away, a whole new force appears to take over where the last ones left off. The player must clear all twelve levels of termites to save the city. This game gives students with low vision practice in the visual skills of locating, fixating, tracking, aligning, and following. It has bright, high-contrast colors for game elements, with player-selected black or white background color and full audio accompaniment, including directional information that permits use by players who are totally blind. A "Hall of Fame" keeps track of scores. The game can be played by one player or two players in alternate play. The program is available on CD-ROM (model D-03470-00) or through electronic distribution (model D-03470-ED). COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows 98 or later operating system; Internet Explorer 5.1 or later; sound card and speakers; CD-ROM drive; 14 megabytes (MB)of available hard disk space.
