Thinkin' Science ZAP! is a science tutorial program designed for use by students with cognitive and learning disabilities. Working with laser beams, electrical circuits, and "visible" sound waves, students practice valuable thinking skills while experimenting within a scientifically accurate environment. Skills developed include observation, prediction, deductive reasoning, conceptual modeling, theory building, and hypothesis testing. The program features Virtual Manipulatives that provide hands-on opportunities for working with both concrete and abstract science concepts while supporting national science standards. The program also includes a Sci-clopedia book of facts, and a collection of 222 science articles from the World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia. The program is TouchWindow and Single Switch compatibility to address a variety of learning styles and abilities. COMPATIBILITY: For use on Apple Macintosh or IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: For IBM-compatible computers: 486/66 megahertz (MHz) or better processor; Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP operating system; 8 megabytes (MB) random access memory (RAM), 16 MB recommended; 5 MB available disk space; 640 x 480 pixel, 256-color display; 2X CD-ROM drive; Windows-compatible sound card; mouse; Edmark TouchWindow (optional); Windows-compatible printer (optional);and a microphone. For Macintosh, requirements are a 68040 or PowerPC processor; OS 7.0.1+ or OS X (Classic) operating system; 8 MB RAM, 16 MB recommended for PowerPC; 5 MB available disk space; 640 by 480 pixel, 256 color display; 2X CD-ROM drive; mouse; Edmark TouchWindow (optional); printer (optional); and a microphone.
