The Quick Glance System is a cursor control interface designed for use by individuals who are quadriplegic or who have other upper extremity disabilities. This system enables users to place the cursor anywhere on the screen simply by looking at the desired location; mouse clicks are accomplished either by slow eye blinks or with a hardware switch and a zoom feature enables greater accuracy for precision work. The software is designed to run in the background while the user works with standard Windows software. Voice dictation software (not included) can be used with this system to enable hands-free operation for both the mouse and text entry. To operate the system, a camera mounted on the computer monitor is focused on one of the user's eyes; the Quick Glance software then processes the camera image to determine where the user is looking (the gaze point). The cursor is then positioned at the gaze point. The system includes the camera, lights, power supply, PCI bus board, software key, software, and a User's Guide.
