(Verified 08/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Echo II with Textalker, model 1-07212-00, is a speech synthesizer designed to allow many public domain and noncopy protected programs to talk for individuals who are blind or have low vision. Pitch, volume, rate of speech, amount of punctuation spoken, and other characteristics of the speech can be controlled from the keyboard. The Textalker software features a screen Review mode that supports columns and may be entered at any time, and a unique text file reading program. Textalker comes on a 5.25 inch disk with a Pro-DOS and a DOS 3.3 (see separate entries) version. A 3.5 inch disk containing the ProDOS version only may also be included. Documentation is provided in large type, Braille, on cassette, and on the program disks. The Echo II hardware includes an interface card; an external speaker box with a knob for volume control, jack for headphones, and a cable for connection to interface card; and installation instructions in regular type and Braille. COMPATIBILITY: Apple II+. IIe or IIGS. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Apple computer with at least 64K of RAM for the DOS 3.3 version, 128K for the ProDOS version.
