Picture of PHILIPS MEDICATION DISPENSER The Philips Medication Dispenser is an electronic voice output medication reminder and dispenser designed for use by individuals with vision, memory or cognitive disabilities or seniors who experience difficulty taking medications. It is designed to be used by people who subscribe to the Philips Medication Dispensing Service. Medications are placed in one-ounce plastic cups which are loaded in the Dispenser. The unit can accept up to 60 cups or doses of oral medications into a locked storage area. The Philips Medication Dispenser is connected to the Philips Medication Dispensing Service via a telephone connection. The user or his/her caregiver provides the medication schedule the Philips Medication Dispensing Service, and the Service programs the Dispenser remotely. It can accommodate schedules with durations up to 40 days. The device is programmed to dispense the medications at the prescribed time(s) and provide a spoken reminder to the user. The user presses a button to note that he/she has responded to the reminder. The Philips Medication Dispenser can be programmed to automatically notify a caregiver in the event of missed doses. The Philips Medication Dispenser has an audio speaker, an LCD message screen, a high intensity red alert light, and a dispense button located on the front of the machine. A power cord connector, telephone line connectors, and a power switch are located at the rear of the unit. There is a lockable door on the side of the machine to access the medication storage area. POWER: Uses a 12-volt direct current (DC) adapter with battery backup. The unit operates up to 12 hours on battery back-up in the event of a power failure.
