Picture of IN-HOME LIFT SYSTEM ---DO IT YOURSELF ENTRY --- PURPOSE: To provide transfer assistance for an individual with neurological disabilities. A wooden track is mounted it to the ceiling, and in-line skate wheels are used to roll the lift along the track. The carriage is powered with a purchased hoist motor. Notes: The designer, Steve Pesto, who has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), uses the lift to help him transfer from wheelchair to bed, with some light assistance from his wife. The lift cost him slightly more than $300.00.
