------- "DO IT YOURSELF" ENTRY ------- PURPOSE: Child threads " caterpillars" through holes in a tree as a means to develop manual dexterity. Describes toy made of plywood, 12 by 18 inches, cut into the shape of a tree and painted. Holes of various sizes are drilled through it. The caterpillars are made with pieces of dowel to fit through the holes, and drilled in one end so brightly colored shoelaces can be glued in. Includes drawings and photograph.
