The PLEXTALK CD/SD/Online Player, model PTX1, is a digital talking book player designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The device plays digital talking books from CDs, SD cards, USB flash drives or online (LAN or WIFI) using its voice synthesizer. Playable formats include DAISY 2.02, ANSI/NISO Z39.86/DAISY 3.0, audio files (MP3, WMA, AMR-WB+, Ogg Vorbis, Wave (PCM)), and text/HTML contents by embedded text-to-speech engine (TTS). The user can listen with the built-in speaker or headphones, and transfer data from internal memory to SD card and USB flash drive without using a PC. The device comes with wireless receiver to support remote control, 2-gigabyte internal memory, and supports up to 32-gigabyte (GB) SD card and USB flash memory. Other functions include 10 keys for complex navigation for professional or school textbook reading, and sleep timer for auto power-off. The following accessories come with the device: mask cover, AC adaptor, user’s guide CD, quick reference guide, and safety instructions. POWER: Uses one rechargeable Ni-MH (nickel-metal hydride) or alternating current (AC) adaptor (100-240 volts, 50/60 Hertz). This device plays DAISY compact discs for 5 hours, music compact discs for 2 hours, and DAISY SD cards for 8 hours per battery charge. DIMENSIONS (WxLxH): 6.69 x 8.62 x 2.2 inches. WEIGHT: 2.87 pounds.
