IP-Relay is a text telephone (TT) emulation program designed for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. It allows a person who cannot hear the incoming audio on a mobile phone to communicate with a hearing person by using the mobile phone as a text telephone. The user can use IP-Relay to place a call to a hearing person. The call is relayed through a certified IP-Relay operator. The user types his/her side of the conversation and the operator speaks that text to the call recipient. The call recipient answers orally, the operator types the response, and the test is displayed on the users mobile device. The IP-Relay service is a federally funded service provided by Purple Communications. There is no charge for an IP-Relay call, and minutes do not count against the user's monthly phone minute allotment. IP-Relay can call any person in the device's contacts list, and it stores recent calls for one-touch call back. The type size can be adjusted and the background and text colors can be changed to enhance contrast. COMPATIBILITY: For use with the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad; BlackBerry phone; or Android phone. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Apple iOS 2.1 or later; BlackBerry OS 4.2.0 or later; Android 2.2 or later.
