DISCOVER:BOARD
The Discover:Board is a keyboard interface designed for use by children and adults with upper extremity, visual, or cognitive disabilities. This voice output keyboard speaks letters, words, or sentences to provide auditory feedback and can be used with such applications as ClarisWorks, Co:Writer, Write:OutLoud, Speaking Dynamically, and the Internet. The set includes the large membrane keyboard, four keyboard overlays, overlay creation software, support for a variety of programs, text entry capability, a mouse, a number pad, talking and training files, a 500-image graphics library, and a design program to enable customization of Discover:Board files. COMPATIBILITY: Versions are available for use on Macintosh and IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The Macintosh version requires an ADB port or iMate adapter, a 68030 processor or better, System 7.5.3, six megabytes (MB) hard drive space, and eight MB RAM. Discover:Kenx (pronounced "connects") is a keyboard interface designed to enable individuals with upper extremity, severe physical, or cognitive disabilities to access a computer using a choice of methods other than a standard keyboard. This device plugs directly into the keyboard port and enables customization for multiple users; the system remembers user preferences and automatically selects the appropriate set-ups. For example, one or two switches can be connected for scanning access, Key Largo (see separate entry) can be connected for alternative keyboard access, and a joystick or other mouse alternative can be connected for use with an onscreen keyboard.The system includes the intergace box; cable; software set-ups for all access methods; speech output with a choice of voices to meet the user's auditory processing needs; a graphics library and recorded sounds in male and female voices for set-up customization; five moisture-proof overlays; and Discover:Create for set-up customization. DISCOVER:SWITCH
The Discover:Switch is a single-switch keyboard modification and on-screen keyboard program designed to enable children with physical disabilities to access popular educational software. The voice-output switch enables students to use educational software, send e-mail, and operate multimedia programs. The switch includes all necessary software to enable it to display and speak a standard keyboard layout or to display and speak words, phrases, or sentences displayed in a keyboard-style matrix. With built-in scanning capability, the user presses the switch to display the scanning keyboard capability on screen. When the desired key is highlighted, the user presses the switch again to select it. The system includes the large-surface switch with on/off control, two jacks to connect the user's personal switches, and a permanently attached cable for ease of connection; 40 ready-to-use scanning keyboards; Easy Numbers for math; Easy Mouse for internet access; and Discover:Create software for customizing keyboards, voices, and set-up. KEY LARGO
Key Largo is a modified keyboard designed for use by indivisuals with upper extremity or cognitive disabilities. This membrane keyboard can be set up with as few as two keys for simple choice making or it can be set up with a full 128-key latout for maximum functionality. The flexibility of the keyboard enables the user to have his or her own specific number of keys, keyboard configuration, specific letters, and specific pictures and/or speech feedback for communication and learning needs. Using Discover setups and changing overlays enables the device to be changed as needed. The unit includes a large wrist rest to stabilize the user's hands, an inclined surface for ease in seeing and reaching keys, and four keyboard layouts that work with Discover:Kenx (sold separately; see entry) for a quick start. Discover:Kenx can also be used to create additional layouts and overlays. DIMENSIONS: 16 x 12 x 3 inches. WEIGHT: Less than three pounds.

MAGIC CURSOR 2000
MAgic Cursor is a cursor control interface designed to provide all mouse functions without the need for buttons or switches for individuals who have little or no hand strength or who have other upper extremity disabilities. By using a dwell selection to operate, Magic Cursor enables the user to perform all mouse functions by moving the cursor. When the cursor dwells on the item where the user wants to perform a funtion, it changes to the funtion box. With the function box, one can move left to single click, right to double click, down for a mouse press, and up for pointing access. Magic cursor will automatically snap and click on action regions. It will also pull down any menu to which it is pointed and return to the standard cursor after each action. Dwell sensitivity and dwelling time can be adjusted to suit the user. SCREENDOORS 2000
Screendoors 2000 is an on screen keyboard, abbreviation expansion, and word prediction program designed for use by individuals with upper extremity disabilities. The program offers the choice of a standard QWERTY keyboard, an alphabetical keyboard, and a frequency of use keyboard. The word prediction feature enables the user to type a few letters and the program provides a list of words beginning with those letters. The abbreviation expansion feature enables the user to type an abbreviation, and the program will enter the corresponding word or phrase. For those utilizing wireless clicking, a dwell feature enables the user to pause over the desired key and the program will type it. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. TRACKER 2000
Tracker 2000 is a hands free mouse designed for use by individuals with quadriplegia or upper extremity disabilities. The device provides complete computer control by tracking the movement of a tiny reusable dot worn on the user's glasses or forehead. This wireless mouse is compatible with both desktop and laptop computers and features adjustable speed and sensitivity settings to accommodate the user's head movement capability. The camera offers a 50-degree field of view and can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The swivel camera ball aids in accurate pointing. Tracker 2000 offers two modes of tracking: regular mouse mode is designed for those with adequate head control and joystick mode is designed for those with poor head control. Mouse clicks can be performed through any ability switch, wirelessly using WISP (see entry), using voice recognition software, or dwell selection software. Scrolling is accomplished simply by moving the head and a mouse pass-through feature enables the standard mouse to be used while the Tracker 2000 is connected. LED lights on the front of the unit indicate when the unit sees a dot, when the edge of the field of view is reached, and movement direction in joystick mode. WISP 2000
WISP 2000 is a control switch interface designed for use by individuals with upper extremity disabilities. This wireless device has built-in sip/puff capability and it can be used with any other ability switch connected to the built-in three millimeter stero jack to create wireless control. This switch can transmit two switch closures, and can be used as a remote switch interface for single switch scanning software or for any device controlled by a single or dual switch. WISP 2000 can also be used to perform mouse clicks with the Tracker (see separate entry). The switch has a range of 20 feet. POWER: Uses one 9-volt battery. DIMENSIONS: The transmitter is 4.25 x 2.4 x 0.9 inches. The receiver is 4.25 x 2.6 x 1.1 inches. WEIGHT: The combined weight is 4 ounces.
