Article reviews computer software products for use in teaching children with learning disabilities. The products are recommended specifically for teachers who believe their students are unable to use computers or computer software, or will be held back by the use of computer-assisted learning tools. (1) Single Switch Games 2 from Marblesoft, single-switch operated arcade-style games, can be used for teaching concepts of graded complexity from cause and effect to advanced problem solving. The games include sound effects and basic graphics intended to hold the attention of gamers of all ages. (2) Picture It and PixWriter from Slater Software are computerized picture-enhanced writing tools that assist teachers in making literacy products which do not require hours of in-service time. Students click on pictures with words or phrases to write sentences while being given picture and auditory support. (3) Co-Writer from Don Johnston, Inc. is a word-prediction program that helps students who struggle with spelling and writing by providing word banks, flexible spelling, and auditory support that assist students in finding the correct word in the writing process.
