State Organizations

Illinois

1. Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired
   The Chicago Lighthouse is one of "the most comprehensive private rehabilitation and educational facility in Illinois dedicated exclusively to assisting children, youth and adults who are blind, visually impaired or multi-disabled." The Lighthouse offers educational, developmental and vocational training programs.

Indiana

1. Indiana Institute on Disability and Community
   The Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, Indiana’s University Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities, is committed to providing Hoosiers with disability-related information and services that touch the entire life span, from birth through older adulthood. Through its collaborative efforts within higher education, and with state and local government agencies, community service providers, persons with disabilities and their families, and advocacy organizations, Institute faculty and staff work to increase community capacity for inclusion of people with disabilities. This is accomplished through university teaching, research, information dissemination, and training and technical assistance.

Maryland

1. Maryland Association of the Deaf, Inc.
   "The purpose of the Maryland Association of the Deaf, Inc. (MDAD) is to safeguard, maintain and advance the civic, educational, and social welfare of people who are deaf and hard of hearing in the State of Maryland. The MDAD membership is diverse, and includes deaf and hard of hearing people; hearing parents and guardians of deaf children; hearing children of deaf adults; and professionals who work with deaf people, all working together to support and learn from one another."

New Hampshire

1. Community Partners (Behavioral Health and Developmental Services of Strafford County NH)
   This organization offers many services to people of all ages affected by disabilities in the Strafford County, NH area.

Virginia

1. Commonwealth Autism Service
   Commonwealth Autism Service is a statewide organization in Virginia providing services to families, consumers, organizations and professionals. They provide technical assistance and consultations, workshops, individual assessments, information and referral including a library, and increasing resources.
2. Virginia Autism Resource Center
   VARC is a resource center for those with autism, those that show the symptoms of autism and their caregivers.

West Virginia

1. West Virginia Office of Behavioral Health Services: Division of Developmental Disabilities
   "We ensure that positive meaningful opportunities are available for persons with mental illness, chemical dependency, developmental disabilities and those at risk. We provide support for individuals, families, and communities in assisting persons to achieve their potential and to gain greater control over the direction of their future."
