NAD Announces First-Ever Internet Streaming Video of Captioned Educational Videos

Article discusses the National Association of the Deaf’s use of the first-ever Internet video streaming of open-captioned educational videos. The videos are provided by the Captioned Media Program (CMP), which is funded by the United States Department of Education. Consumers need to have RealPlayer installed on their computer in order to view the streamed videos. RealPlayer enables a computer to receive audio and video files, and it can be downloaded free from the Internet on the CMP Web site. All videos streamed by the CMP will have visible captions, and it is not necessary to download additional software. Registered users will be able to borrow over 4,000 open-captioned videos.
