Sunglasses for Every Occasion: NoIR's Line of Non-Prescription Fit-Overs

By Caviness, Rochelle; Large Print Reviews,
Publication Date: August 2004

Article reviews five models of Fit-Over sunglasses from NoIR Medical Technologies, Incorporated: (1) Traditional NoIR Fit-Overs, (2) SpectraShield Fit-Overs, (3) Polarized Fit-Overs, (4) Fit-Overs With Straps, and (5) Clip-Ons. The Traditional NoIR Fit-Overs are large, hard plastic frames that fit over standard eyeglasses in order to provide protection from ultraviolet light. The sunglasses come in 18 different colors. The Polarized Fit-Overs look identical to the Traditional Fit-Overs, and are available in the same colors. The difference is that the front of the sunglasses has an added polarized layer that decreases the amount of light that is transmitted through the glasses, greatly reducing glare. The Fit-Overs with Straps are also basically the same as the Traditional Fit-Overs, yet instead of having arms that fit over the ears, a strap is connected to the side shields. This feature can make these glasses useful during physical activity. The SpectraShield Fit-Overs have filters that are placed into molded plastic frames that have traditional ear pieces. They also have rounded edges for a less bulky and more fashionable look when compared to Traditional Fit-Overs. The Clip-Ons are similar to Traditional NoIR Fit-Overs, but rather than wearing them over regular eyeglasses, they have a small pincher clamp that clips them onto the top of the prescription eyeglass frame. These devices have an advantage in that they can be flipped up, allowing the user to switch between regular prescription glasses and sunglasses without having to take the sunglasses off. The author enthusiastically recommends all types of NoIR Fit-Over sunglasses, as they have been found to be well made and durable. The author has also found NoIR Medical Technologies’ representatives to be courteous and knowledgeable about their product line.
