Article on the Braille Star 40 from Pulse Data HumanWare and Handy Tech of Germany. Braille Star 40 is the first of a new generation of Braille displays designed to work with or without a personal computer. It has an ergonomically designed Braille display and a ten-key dual-purpose Braille keypad that enables easy-to-remember mnemonic commands when online using a screen reader. It is also used as a braille writer when it is offline.
