(Verified 4/2006) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The American Sign Language Dictionary On CD-ROM, Version 2.0, is a sign language program designed for use by persons with hearing disabilities. This software program combines more than 2,000 videoclips, animation, and fingerspelling to display the contents of Martin Sternberg's ASL Dictionary. Users can "look up" signs and see them demonstrated, and control the individual speed of each sign. The program also includes an updatable database of signs enables users to add new signs monthly from the Harper- Collins website. The program offers searching capabilities in five languages and an expanded section on fingerspelling. A print copy of the dictionary is included. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers equipped with Windows and Macintosh computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The Macintosh version requires a 68030 or better processor, system 7.1 or better, 12 megabytes (Mb) RAM with a minimum of 8 Mb free, a 13-inch 256-color monitor, QuickTime 2.0 or higher, and a double-speed CD-ROM drive. The Windows version requires a 33 megaHertz (mHz) 486 or better processor, 12 Mb RAM, DOS 5.0 or higher, Windows 3.1 or Windows 95, a double-speed MPC compatible CD-ROM drive, a SVGA monitor at 256 colors, a mouse, and a Sound Blaster compatible sound card.
