The Reizen Talking Label Wand is a battery-operated, voice-output labeling system designed to help individuals who are blind or have low vision identify household items, such as cans and jars, medicine bottles, toiletries, articles of clothing, CDs, files, and more. The labeler comes with 232 labels (160 round labels and 72 rectangular, washable labels), each of which can be reused and re-recorded an unlimited number of times. To record a product’s name on a label, the user must turn the wand on, press the tip of the wand against the label, hold down the record button, and then speak the name of the product into the wand’s built-in microphone. From then on, every time the user touches the label with the wand, the talking label identifier will automatically replay the recorded message back to him or her. The Reizen Talking Label Wand has tactile buttons and provides the user with voice prompts to guide him through the recording process. For example, it will say “Start recording” and “Recording completed” when the label wand is ready to receive and has captured the recorded message, respectively. It will also state “Power on” when it is turned on, “Power off” when it has been turned off, and “This is a new label” if the label is blank. The unit will power off automatically if the wand does not have any activity for 60 seconds. The Reizen Talking Label Wand comes with 10 safety pins that can be used to attach washable labels to articles of clothing, and a removable 2-gigabyte (GB) memory card that offers up to 120 hours of recording. It also features an adjustable volume control, a 3.5-millimeter (mm) headphone jack, and two language options-English or Spanish.
